Guesthouse in the heart of Reykjavik

Octavo Guesthouse is located in a quiet residential neighborhood very close to the city center. In a short walking distance you have The National Gallery of Iceland, Reykjavík Art Museum, National Museum of Iceland, The Nordic House and The University of Iceland. There is about five minutes walk to the Hljomskalagardur by The Tjorn (Pond) where it is wonderful to stoll among  trees, flowers and birds. But you don´t have to walk a mutch further until you are surrounded with life in the downtown Reykjavik, where the restaurants, bars and the shops are.

Very close is the waterfront, harbouring small fishing boats as well as modern trawlers. On weekends one has a fishmarket  and there are also many seafood restaurants. Off shore anchore the big cruise ships in their short visit to Iceland on their way around the world. On the harbour you can book a whale waching tour and you don´t have  to be very lucky to see one or two. Presently we have a large building project in this area, where our new magnificent Concert Hall – “Harpa” is under construction. It will be ready in the autumn 2011.
